Caring for Lace: A Simple Guide
Lace is delicate by nature, but with proper care, your favorite pieces can last for years.
Hand Wash is Best
Fill a basin with cool water and a small amount of gentle detergent. Submerge your lace piece and gently swish it around. Never wring or twist — this damages the fibers.
Skip the Dryer
Heat is lace's worst enemy. After washing, lay your piece flat on a clean towel and roll it up to absorb excess water. Then reshape and air dry away from direct sunlight.
Store with Care
Fold lace pieces rather than hanging them (hangers can stretch the fabric). Store them in a drawer with tissue paper between layers to prevent snagging.
When in Doubt, Use a Wash Bag
If you must machine wash, always use a mesh lingerie bag on the delicate cycle. Cold water only, and skip the fabric softener — it can break down elastic fibers over time.
